Therapist Spotlight: September Edition

My name is Jakki Hesse and I have been studying and working in the field of massage and alternative therapies for over 10 years. I am based at Amethyst Osteopathic & Complimentary Therapies Clinic in Selsdon and I am registered with the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists. I started on my path of alternative therapies in early 2002 when my marriage was breaking down and it was leading me to re evaluate what I was doing with my life. I started to look at myself and the lifestyle I was leading and it lead me to the wonderful joyful journey I am still taking today, with new experiences and new learnings that continue to help me grow and blossom.My training started with Usui Reiki and I discovered that, as well as self healing this could be used to help facilitate healing in others.  In 2015 I trained in a different Reiki called “Shambala” which has bought a wonderful new energy to my work and this quickly lead me to advance in my massage therapy. I specialise in seeing the person as a “whole” and I became interested in fascia because the whole body is connected through it. I trained in Fascial Unwinding and energy awareness as it compliments what I already do. I now specialise in light touch therapy to help with Scars, this is amazing work developed by "Sharon Wheeler" in America and there are a growing number of therapists trained in this work. I use Zephorium products personally and within my work, all my massages are using Zephorium oils and clients comment on the wonderful smells, I look at my clients as they come through the door and intuitively decide which colour I will use, I normally ask them to then choose a colour from the oils that are out and more often than not they choose  the same colour I intuitively chose for them. I use the sprays along with the massage oils and if people are coming for a reiki session I will use the aura sprays to help move blockages and then ground people at the end of the session. I also use with scar clients at the end of a session either the green or pink oil and have the intention of putting love into the scar and I have found that this really helps with the healing process. I believe in empowerment , building a persons strengths and reminding my clients, when they are unable to remember themselves, that they are “imperfectly perfect” because society states we should be better than, slimmer than, richer than other but I want to help people just “BE” and the Zephorium ethos fits with my beliefs perfectly.  In my spare time I spend time with my partner and my fur baby Bonzo taking him for long walks and travelling in our motor home called Betsy. The importance of touch for human growth and well being

Massage is one of the most relaxing and loving things we can do for another. Recently more of our lovely stockist therapists are taking the massage oils into hospices, care homes and hospitals. I love it that the oils are being used at such tender times for people who really need to feel reassured, loved and tended to. I remember when I was young, an old lady said to me that the hardest part of ageing was that no one touched her anymore. We all need human touch and if you know someone who needs a bit of love and kindness, why not offer to give them a hand or foot massage. I like to use the Amethyst Crystal and lavender massage oil on hands and feet for general relaxation but for people who are frightened or  ungrounded try the Ruby Crystal with Ylang Ylang. Touch is so important for human growth well-being. Recently one of our therapists told her experience of doing reflexology on a lady with severe brain cancer who was scared of dying. She massaged her feet and the woman went into a blissful state of relaxation, whilst in this state of deep bliss and happiness she passed to spirit. What a gift for both of them.

Therapist Spotlight - Lisa Satchwell

My name is Lisa Satchwell and my business is called LisaSatchwellEnergetics. I was excited and honoured to be asked to share a little of my journey as a therapist and how I use the fabulous Zephorium products in my clinic.

I am a Clinical Massage Therapist, who specialises in treating chronic and acute pain conditions and scars. I originally qualified in massage in 2005 in Australia, where I lived for 13 years. Since returning back home in 2011 I have gained a Certificate in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy and am currently completing my final year of BTEC6 in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage with JING Institute in Brighton.

My therapy business, which is based in Repton, Derbyshire focuses mainly on treating soft tissue - muscle, tendon, ligaments and fascia by releasing myofascial restrictions, triggers points and hence pain. I use a combination of different techniques, such as, direct and indirect myofascial release, trigger point therapy, orthopaedic assessment, deep tissue sports massage, scarwork techniques, stretching, rehabilitation, self help exercises and advice. I have had success in treating conditions and injuries, such as frozen shoulder, lower back and neck pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, hamstring and groin strains, knee pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ, face and jaw pain, as well as relieving stress and anxiety.

Although pain relief can sound quite clinical, I work holistically and energetically and do provide other more relaxing treatments such as hot stone massage, pregnancy massage, organic holistic facials and body treatments. The client’s whole lifestyle is taken into account, not just their symptoms and treatments are tailored to take care of their physical, emotional and mental needs. I find I get much better results talking this approach.

I am also a Liquid Crystal Practitioner and provide a range of remedies to help on all levels, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Zephorium, therefore was a great addition to my product range. I am a relatively new stockist, but fell in love with them at first sight and smell!

I love the fact that they are completely natural and combine aromatherapy oils, crystals and an affirmation, in fact these products completely changed my mind regarding affirmations (was a bit of a sceptic before Zephorium). The natural perfumes, are a godsend as I love perfume, but can’t tolerate the chemicals and artificial smells in them and love that they are so light and handy you can just chuck them in your handbag!

Being a Frankincense fanatic I personally used the aura spray to help balance my third eye chakra and to cleanse my clinic and myself between treatments. My clients also love it, one in particular who was going through a period of intense stress, where she felt  tired, unwell and lacking in energy said “I was attracted to the aroma of the Lapis Lazuli Crystal Frankincense spray and even though I was unsure of saying the affirmation that goes with it decided to give it a go. The results are amazing! I spray it several times a day, even saying the affirmation and find that the effects are really calming and relaxing. It has definitely made a difference to my stress levels on a day to day basis and I have also received many comments on the lovely aroma”. She has since had a second bottle!

I use the sprays at the end of treatments when I feel the client can benefit from some extra support and have sold them for a variety of reasons – the Rose Quartz to help heal and sooth emotions during relationship difficulties, Ruby to a yoga teacher to help ground her before her practice and Emerald for stability and protection.

My first set of body oils arrived just the other day and I am very excited about adding them into treatments too. I know I am going to have some very happy clients.

The wonderful thing about the products is that you don’t have to sell them, they just walk off the shelves, people are instantly drawn to them and I have had so many people say “what are those?” as soon as they walk into the room! Zephorium products naturally complement my business and the way I work. They are a great addition to my tool box of techniques to help people back to wellbeing and a better quality of life.

Therapist Spotlight: Kristina Botterill from Pamper Pod

My name is Kristina Botterill, and I was delighted when Lauren invited me to contribute to the Zephorium newsletter to talk about how I use Zephorium products in my practice.

I am mum to 3 gorgeous children a supportive husband and an excitable chocolate Labrador puppy called Minty. My business is called The Pamper Pod. I am based in Preston Park in Brighton and I have built up a loyal following of regular clients over the past 5 years. I specialize in reflexology, foot reading, organic facials and massage. I hold talks, workshops and foot reading parties for small groups in their own homes. It is always a privilege when you are offered a pair of feet to work with. When you hold someone’s feet, you are holding the whole person. The feet act as a mirror to the rest of the body. I have trained with 2 leading names in the foot reading world – Jane Sheehan and Sue Ricks. They both have written books on the subject which I highly recommend.

I am co-founder of an organisation called “Branch” which brings wellbeing practitioners together from across Sussex, We hold regular meetings in Brighton to share ideas, support each other, learn from industry experts and increase our profiles within the health and wellbeing sector. As well as Zephorium, I also work with Neal’s yard remedies and have a large team of independent consultants based all over the country. My work has changed over the last 12 months, with more focus being placed on my gentle touch reflexology technique and foot reading in particular. As a foot reader I have an insight in the emotional health of my clients, as a reflexologist I pick up clues as to their physical health. Combining the 2 techniques gives me a much broader picture of how that person is actually feeling.

I discovered Zephorium products fairly recently at the Professional Beauty show this February. I love the oils and use the Ruby Crystal oil with ylang ylang during a foot massage or reflexology session. With “gentle touch reflexology” the techniques are very conducive to relaxation, so I use the oils to ground my clients and stop them from drifting too far off into another realm! I use the aura sprays in the treatment room after a massage, facial or reiki sessions. Using the gorgeous aromas to help awaken my clients and to clear the energy in the room. I also use the body oils for massage and they have been very well received by my clients.

I have sold aura sprays for a number of different uses – The amethyst spray for a mum to give to her daughter who was struggling with exam stress. The aquamarine spray for a facilitator to help her deliver an effective workshop and the lapis lazuli spray to heal old emotional wounds. The sprays were featured in the Brighton festival this May as part of the open house season and it was great fun showing them to a new audience of artists and bohemians!

I use the sprays myself every day to prepare for a client’s arrival, and to set my intention for the day ahead. I use them on the kids, my friends and even the dog! I recently sprayed the chemotherapy unit at The Royal Sussex, there is nowhere I wouldn’t use these lovely aura sprays.

Hello, I'm Clare Blake, the founder of Fertility Massage Therapy & Training.

Fertility Massage Therapy is a unique and specialised treatment that combines many traditional bodywork and healing techniques alongside intuition and feminine wisdom. The physical focus is on bringing alignment to the abdominal organs, in particular the womb, but also increasing circulation to the digestive & reproductive organs to enable a nutrient & hormone rich supply of blood to flow freely to the womb to assist conception. Although the name implies it is for conception, a "Fertile Womb" is important for all women, regardless of whether they have a physical womb or not. A fertile womb is one that is healthy both physically and emotionally; so that a woman can cycle, create and be centred.

In one to one sessions; many emotions arise or I can sense which Chakra's require cleansing and healing. My intuition will guide me as to which of the beautiful Zephorium sprays are required to help support and nurture my client through that session.  I use the sprays in a teaching setting too, and they have made the world of difference, in particular when students are receiving their Womb Blessing; I am sure these sprays sing out to me! My students love using them throughout the course, and on each other through practical sessions. They not only look great on our Womb Altar, but they support the blossoming and journeys of each student on my course.

Brand NEW Zephorium Workshops Coming Soon!

We will be running Zephorium workshops from September to facilitate therapists in using and selecting our products and to show how to recommend them to your clients. Some of our stockists are massage therapists, many are reiki masters, homeopaths, naturopaths, healers, yoga teachers and more.

We are formulating workshops for therapists in general, for massage therapists and spiritual teachers and also one for the general public to come and experience the products in all their glory. If you are interested in these let me know and we will forward more information when we have sorted out dates.

After a day spent in the aura of the sprays and oils the natural aromatherapy smells can really lift your spirits. I love making the products and they are all still hand made. At the end of a day’s production I am literally floating on air. I fall in love with the smells each time I make them. Today I have been making the yellow citrine oils and the grapefruit, lemon and lime is still wafting around my nose keeping me feeling lifted and joyful – I love knowing I am a powerful creator and so are you! I repeat the affirmation to anchor the aroma and crystal energy into my aura.
